UPDATE: A curious object spotted above Queens Park has left both an amateur photographer and a world-renowned astronomer scratching their heads.
Toowoomba man Stephen Kirby was taking part in an activity with Toowoomba photography group when he inadvertently snapped the object.
"I didn't see it when I took the photograph but when I got home and had the photograph on the screen I noticed it," Mr Kirby said.
"It left me wondering what it was."
Mr Kirby captured the image on his Sony A350.
He then enlarged the image and had the photograph printed.
The developed image revealed a green-hued disk shaped object, with trail of white cloud-like smudges closely behind.
"The people at the photo shop couldn't explain it either."
University of Southern Queensland's world renowned astronomer Professor Brad Carter said the image was certainly "curious".
"I'd agree that it is 'unidentified', but whether it's flying or floating, I don't know," Professor Carter said. . . .
