Approximately 7 or 8 years prior to this 1946 incident a late friend of mine told me he was around 8 years old and playing in a field in Vancouver when he saw an object streaking horizontally across the sky. It was a tube like affair with black smoke issuing from one end. As it got closer it changed direction to vertical and streaked straight up out of sight.
