. . . We discovered the National UFO Reporting Center got up to 200 calls between News Year's Eve and January 1 -- all reporting orange-reddish lights in the sky.
"Clearly the reports that have come in here in the past 40 hours have virtually nothing to do with fireworks," said Peter Davenport, the Director of the National UFO Reporting Center.
Davenport says in the past 19 months he's received over 5,000 similar calls.
"They seem to defy any similarity to terrestrial aircrafts we just don't know what they are," Davenport said.
Davenport says a small percentage of these cases can be Chinese lanterns or hot air balloons -- but he isn't convinced they all are.
"At least we feel like we're not seeing things, you know, and it's been seen somewhere else," Hoffman said.
Our meteorologists say they don't believe weather nor anything in space caused the lights in our area. . . .

This case might be those lanterns used for the occasion *
In truth I was not there to see them.
PS I have witnessed a bizarre orange type that appeared 30 -60 feet in diameter of light.
